Author Biography

Ken Mease

Seldom does a writer begin his writing career at the age of eighty. Yet, that is the case with the author of Ken Mease is a World War II veteran, having enlisted on August 1, 1944 and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in Santa Maria, Azores. He was honorably discharged in November, 1946, with the rank of sergeant and belonged to the Air Force Reserve for four years. Ken is a native of Selinsgrove, PA. At age fourteen, he taught himself to write music but dismissed the idea of a musical career. Following one semester at the Conservatory of Music at Susquehanna University, located in his hometown, he decided to pursue learning-through-experience in order to establish his own business. In 1971, he borrowed $500 to found a tool and machine shop. Shortly thereafter, he expanded the business to include custom plastic injection molding, which remains the core of the business. He still works a full day, every day. Ken and his wife, Millie, have been married for almost sixty years. They have two daughters and two sons, fifteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Ken also composed the Theme for this story, which has been recorded and is available separately.
